So, I was cleaning my shelves and drawers looking for this envelope with some Yen Notes I got from a friend who served with the Marines during the Pacific Campaign of WWII. I'm digging and digging and I'm finding all these books I'v been collecting and photos of my Dad's travels around the world, but no evnvelope.
Then I come across a book with a rather fancy bookmark. I open it up to find a $100USD bill (£53GBP). How awesome is that? Not that I can spent it here... I'll keep it for when I'm buying Mountain Dew (It's been so long).
train of thought --> Oh, I did find the Yen Notes from my friend. Intrestingly enough, one of the notes has written on one side "Recived Jan 20 1946 (signed) Harry J. Sapin PFC U.S.M.C". I love things like this. Makes me smile, and I wonder how that day must have went. Jan 20th 1946... 6 Months after the atomic bomb was dropped. Like 9/11, the Atomic bomb would still be fresh in everyone's mind. Harry would still be doing his service in Japan, proberly trying to forget about the Atomic Bomb.
As for my Dad's photo's; around 1965-75, he traveled the world with the merchant navy. It's pretty cool knowing my dad was there and in these exotic places like Barbados and Moscow. He even showed me his collection of his 5 different passports which are FULL of stamps and passes from all over.
I also found some old photos of my Mum and Dad as thay traveled around Scotland on Motorbikes. And later in a Ford Granada with their two black labradors. Needless to say, it's my Mum taking most of the photos.
Haha, I also found a photo of my GrandPapa with a cat on his lap and a cat on his shoulder while he's trying to eat breakfast. I couldn't find out what the cat's names were.
Apparently, I get some of my drawing skills from my Papa. He too went to study Graphic Design but I think the War called him to duty before he got into it. After the war, he went into farming until he retired just a few number of years back. He does have a small portfolio which I've learned he will be passing to me in his will.
I think I've said a fair bit of whats on my mind.
Please forgive any spelling errors.
